The Faculty of Agriculture and Economics is the largest and oldest faculty of the University of Agriculture in Krakow.

At the Faculty of Agriculture and Economics, students major in:

Forestry

The Faculty has the highest academic position in Poland and academic staff fully prepared to solve complex natural problems of the forest management foundations, diagnose forest habitats, protect forests, plan and carry out economic activities, as well as predict the effects of their implementation for both the forests and the geographical environment they are part of.

At the Faculty of Forestry, students major in Forestry.

The Faculty’s scientific and educational activities are carried out in six Departments:

Animal Breeding and Biology

The specific characteristic of the Faculty is Experimental Stations operating at most Departments, where various species of farm animals are kept. These stations provide an opportunity to conduct scientific research, educational classes, and student training. The Experimental Stations also keep animals of native breeds, such as Polish Koniks, Hutsuls, Zatorska geese, Polish chickens of the CP-11 and CP-22 breeds, high-yielding Olkusz sheep, and standard nutria covered by the animal genetic resources protection programme in Poland.

At the Faculty of Animal Breeding and Biology, students major in the following four fields of study:

  • Applied Biology,
  • Animal Ethology and Psychology,
  • Zootechnics.

The Faculty’s scientific and educational activities are carried out in five Departments:

At the Faculty of Biotechnology and Horticulture, students major in the following fields in Polish:

The Landscaping major is run by the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Land Surveying together with the Faculty of Biotechnology and Horticulture.

The Faculty of Production and Power Engineering conducts its educational and research mission in combination with the transfer of technology and know-how to the economy. Within the framework of educational classes, students carry out experiments in laboratories, including those with a certified status, and have access to specialised computer programs. Students learn about modern solutions applied in reputable enterprises as part of organized study trips (within certain subjects).
At the Faculty, students major in the following fields:

  • Management and Production Engineering,
  • Renewable Energy Sources and Waste Management,
  • Transport and Logistics,
  • Mechatronics.

The Faculty’s scientific and educational activities are carried out in four Departments:

  • Department of Machine Operation, Ergonomics and Production Processes,
  • Department of Bioprocess Engineering, Energy Technology and Automation
  • Department of Production Engineering, Logistics and Applied Computer Science,
  • Department of Mechanical Engineering and Agrophysics.

Within the structure of the Faculty of Production and Energy Engineering, three research laboratories operate, which are accredited by the Polish Centre for Accreditation.

The Faculty of Food Technology is a place for those who are interested in learning about food processing, from product design and production technology to analyses and quality assessments considering dietary aspects.

On June 8, 2010, the University Centre of Veterinary Medicine UJ – UR was established based on an agreement between the Jagiellonian University and the University of Agriculture in Krakow. This way, Krakow became the sixth city in Poland where veterinary physicians are educated.

The Centre’s structure includes the University Outpatient Clinic and the Centre for Experimental and Innovative Medicine, which serves as a modern Scientific Centre.
